Are You Ready for Single Touch Payroll?Comments Off on Are You Ready for Single Touch Payroll?
Single Touch Payroll (STP) extends to small employers with 19 or less employees from 1 July 2019.
This means you report your employees’ tax and superannuation information to the ATO each time you pay them.
There is a three-month transition period so you can start reporting any time from 1 July – 30 September.
Some Locum Vets work as contractors, have an ABN (Australian Business Number) and invoice clinics for their work. However, for Superannuation purposes, they may still be considered an employee and entitled to the Super Guarantee from their employer if they are paid wholly or principally for their labour and skills, perform the work personally, and are paid for hours worked, rather than to achieve a result. To work out whether super applies, use the ATO tool at https://www.ato.gov.au/Calculators-and-tools/Employee-or-contractor/
